Professor David Bellamy praises Merebrook
Merebrook has been awarded the Professor David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award for the 4th consecutive year. In his letter to Adrian Daley announcement the awarding the popular botanist and broadcaster said: 'Let me congratulate you and your team on your well-deserved Gold award.
Considering how much you have achieved it is difficult to pick out the highlight of your work and I am particularly pleased that you are maintaining your usual high standards. It's also great that many of your residents are members of conservation organisations and include a 'green champion' who helps you with your work.'
What makes Merebrook an award-winning park?
David Bellamy Conservation Awards are made each year to parks which can demonstrate policies showing active concern for the environment. Assisted by local nature groups and holidaymakers themselves, David Bellamy looks at virtually every aspect of park management - from the protection of plant and animal habitats to the efficient use of energy and recycling. Helping visitors to understand conservation is also considered an important qualifying feature. Three levels of excellence can be achieved: Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Hear it from some of our Residents
'It's just magic to step out of the front door into fantastic rural landscape, the area is so well managed with everyone taking pride in their surroundings. The list grows but I have seen Kingfisher for the first time in my life along the river and Canada Geese with their goslings have been nesting. Only this morning, a swan and two young signets were in the river below my balcony.'
'We love the beautiful surroundings, easy access to the hills and dales, good public transport facilities and good company!'
'Could anything be better? Not really, Merebrook is a beautiful place to live and very peaceful'
